This image from Lindsay Stephenson got my brain rolling with ideas. It would be so cute to do a bunch of dinosaurs and balloons in different colors and different heights along the food table.

This table setting below from Hostess with the Mostess provides great inspiration for a dinosaur birthday party. My favorite details are the moss placemats, kraft serving dishes, and wooden utensils.

I am a huge fan of succulents and love the way they look on this table.

How to Address Wedding Envelopes // Part 1

How to Address Wedding Envelopes // Part 1

Need help with envelope etiquette? Not sure how to correctly set up a file for our envelope addressing service? Below are four examples of scenarios that commonly lead to questions. You can always download our spreadsheet here that covers these, plus other examples.

Married Couple with children (living in an apartment)

Bell Script on cobalt outerBell Script cobalt inner

Things to note:

Outer Envelope:

  • Only the husband and wife are listed on the outer envelope (if doing two envelopes).  Children will be listed on inner envelope.
  • The apartment goes on a separate line.
  • Spell everything out. It always looks so much better when printed. For example, "Apartment", "Road", "Missouri"...
Inner Envelope
  • This inner envelope is an example of informal names. If doing informal names, the wife is listed first on the inner envelope.
  • The inner envelope could also have been "Mr. and Mrs. Rogers" with "Hannah" on the second line if being more formal.

Couple that lives together, but is not married

    Aster Script on coral outer

    Things to note:

    Outer Envelope:

    • The female is listed first for a couple that lives together, but is not married.
    • Names are listed on separate lines.
    • "And" is omitted because they are not married.
    Inner Envelope:
    • The inner envelope would read "Barb and James" if being informal or "Ms. Banks and Mr. Edwards" if being formal.
    • Female is listed first.

Husband is a doctor (with children)

      Things to note:

      Outer Envelope:
      • If the husband is a doctor, "Doctor" is spelled out and he is listed first. If the wife is a doctor she is listed first. For example, "Doctor Anne Louise and Mr. Brandon Whitley Wicks".
      • Only the husband and wife are listed on the outer envelope (if doing two envelopes).  Children will be listed on inner envelope.
      • Spell out house numbers twenty and under. Do not spell out apartment or unit numbers.
      Inner Envelope
      • This inner envelope is an example of the traditional format. If being informal it also could have read "Whit and Jenna Wicks" with "and family" on the second line.
      • "And family" can be used if you do not want to list out all of the kid's names. It would be appropriate to list out all the names as well.

What if the husband is in the military?

      Things to note:

      Outer Envelope:

      • Spell out the full title, whether the husband, wife  or both are in the military.
      • The same rules would apply for other distinguished titles, like judges, pastors, and reverends.

      Inner Envelope

      • If being formal, the inner envelope could read "Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. Lee".
      • If being informal, the inner envelope could read "James and Katie".

        Paper Options

Most Gilm Press products are typically printed on one of six papers. We most often use a white or ivory paper in one of three textures: smooth, linen or felt. I love paper with texture and love the look and feel of both our linen and felt options shown below.

        Gilm Press Paper Options

The linen stock has a nice, subtle, woven texture to it and the ivory linen is by far my most popular for wedding programs.

The felt stock (which is my personal favorite) has a more pronounced texture to it, almost like a watercolor paper. In my opinion (and in the opinion of almost every client that orders it) the felt feels and looks much more expensive than it is. I print almost all my calling cards on this paper and love to use it on invitations with watercolor elements.

Refer to a product's listing for its paper options, but contact us if you have any questions or ever want to upgrade to one of these great options.

What to include on wedding program?

What to include on wedding program?

One of the most common questions I get is “what should I include in my wedding program?”. While this is a very hard question to answer, because each and ever ceremony and bridal party is completely different, I have compiled a list of common “categories” that I often see in the programs I do.

Click here to download the document: Gilm Press Wedding Program Template

Feel free to include as much or as little as you would like. This is only a guide. I have done everything from a crossword puzzle to over 30 people in just the bridal party and can make almost anything fit.

If you ever have a question about Gilm Press wedding programs or any of our other products email us at info(at)gilmpress.com or give Elizabeth at call at 334.412.3496.
